Higher Education Scholarship Program
Semester scholarships for enrolled Comanche students at accredited colleges and universities: $4,000 per semester full-time undergraduate, $5,000 per semester for master’s and doctoral students, with published part-time and summer amounts. Multiple degrees may be funded if money is available.
Who's eligible
Tribal Citizens Only
The Higher Education page states the student "must be an enrolled member of the Comanche Nation, be approved for admissions by an accredited college, need financial assistance, and give reasonable assurance they will be successful in completing a four-year college degree program." The CNG guidelines (revised 2 September 2025) set the amounts: full-time undergraduates (12+ credit hours) receive $4,000.00 per semester; part-time undergraduates receive $3,000 for 9-11 hours, $2,500 for 6-8 hours, $2,000 for 3-5 hours. Full-time graduate students (9+ hours) receive $5,000.00 per semester; part-time $4,000 for 6 hours, $3,000 for 3 hours. Doctoral students (PhD, MD, JD) receive the same as graduate students. Summer: full-time undergraduates (6+ hours) $3,000, part-time $2,000 for 3-5 hours; full-time graduate/doctoral (6+ hours) $4,000, part-time $3,000 for 3-5 hours. CNG funds go first to undergraduates who do not qualify for a Pell grant; once BIA funds are exhausted CNG funds also assist Pell-eligible students. The guidelines also fund concurrent students, incarcerated tribal members taking accredited coursework, study-abroad costs such as airline tickets and passports, and students at unaccredited institutions who supply three letters from accredited institutions confirming the credit will transfer. Hardship assistance toward an unpaid balance is available once only, after a five-year period, without affecting scholarship eligibility. NCAA Division I student athletes are assisted case-by-case through an athletic academic award rather than a scholarship, per NCAA rules.
Where it's offered
Nationwide
Neither the program page nor the CNG guidelines impose a residency requirement or county list on the scholarship. Eligibility keys on Comanche enrollment and admission to an accredited institution, so members qualify wherever they study. All three outreach offices list Higher Education among the non-local services available to members living away from Lawton.
