Indian Child Welfare — Family Preservation and Foster Care

Kickapoo ICW provides referral for services, family support, transportation assistance, case oversight and ICWA advocacy in court, and "is responsible for the well-being and safety of Kickapoo Children and any native child that resides on tribal trust land." Family Preservation serves families whose children are at risk of removal by ICW, DHS or a court: families may be referred or come in on their own, complete an intake, and follow a voluntary service plan with home visits by a prevention worker. ICW also certifies foster homes for tribal children removed by court order and handles adoptive placement when reunification does not occur. A 24/7 urgent line, 405-915-5221, is for emergencies only (call 911 first).
