Burial Assistance Program
Provides up to $3,500 to help Navajo Nation residents cover funeral and burial expenses for a deceased family member. Increased from $2,500 effective November 1, 2025. Participating mortuaries may also submit the application on behalf of families.

Geographic
Navajo Nation residents facing funeral costs for an indigent decedent. Specific income or enrollment criteria follow BIA payment standards; contact NDCFS for current requirements.

Reservation
Navajo Nation reservation in Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah.
How to apply
Download the fillable Burial Assistance Application from ndcfs.org/burial-assistance/, complete it, and email with supporting documents to Burial_Submissions@ndcfs.org. Participating mortuaries may also submit on behalf of families. Phone: 928-871-6556.
