Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma · CHILD CARE
Indian Child Welfare (ICW) and Foster Care
ICW staff advocate for families involved with state child welfare, respond to court notices, offer services to prevent the breakup of Indian families, search for relatives for permanent placement, and recruit Native foster and adoptive homes. ICW does not handle private custody or divorce matters. People interested in becoming a tribal or state foster parent can stop by the office for the foster care packet.
Who's eligible
Any CDIB Holder Any Enrolled Tribal Member Geographic
ICW is part of the 477 Program, whose page says it serves "eligible clients" with child welfare services. The 477 Program page lists the basic requirements: "Proof of Membership of a Federally Recognized Indian Tribe or CDIB Card" and "Proof of residency (must reside in the service area unless otherwise unserved)," plus a completed application, a Selective Service card if applicable, and a Self-Sufficiency Plan made with a caseworker. The ICW page itself publishes no separate eligibility rule; call to confirm for cases involving Eastern Shawnee children outside the service area.
