BIA Financial Assistance and Social Services aids American Indians and Alaska Natives who have no access to Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), do not meet TANF eligibility criteria, or have exceeded the TANF lifetime limit — enrollment in the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma specifically is not stated as a requirement. The services are designed to be a last resort when no other resources or financial assistance are available. All services must be within the approved BIA jurisdictional boundaries for the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma, and all are subject to a completed application providing true and accurate information. Additional documentation such as a TANF denial letter, proof of income, and proof of residency will be necessary. For this benefit there must be written confirmation from the deceased's enrolled tribe that the tribe will not be assisting with burial.
