Substance Abuse Program (SAP / Native Connections / Tribal Opioid Response)
Community-based prevention, outpatient education, and referral services for alcohol and substance use. The program identifies people at risk, provides outpatient educational services, and refers to inpatient treatment centers, medical and non-medical detoxification, and recovery services. Two grant components extend it: Native Connections works on suicide and substance abuse prevention with Native youth ages 6 to 24 through cultural classes, and the Tribal Opioid Response grant focuses on opioid prevention and recovery outreach for ages 18 through 64.
Who's eligible
Verify With Program Geographic
The program states that the Indian population served "are Native Americans representing the Pawnee, Ponca, Otoe-Missouria, Osage, Kaw and Tonkawa Tribes." Because that is a specific list of six tribes rather than an open tribal eligibility rule, confirm your own eligibility with the program. The Native Connections component targets Native youth ages 6 to 24; the Tribal Opioid Response component targets ages 18 through 64.
