Kiowa Tribe Emergency Assistance

Tribally funded emergency help of up to $400 per Kiowa household per tribal fiscal year for essential utility bills, medical expenses or supplies, rent or mortgage payments, and other household emergencies. Who qualifies

Citizens of this tribe

The applicant must be an enrolled Kiowa member aged 18 or older who is recognized as the head of the household, "rather than simply residing within the household," and the bill must be registered in that member's name. A CDIB is required. One household address may not be used more than once across different tribal members, and funds may not be requested for personal use — only for essential utility, medical, rent, mortgage, and other emergency expenses with documentation.

How to apply

PDF DownloadEmailMailIn-Person

Download the current Emergency Assistance application and submit it to Social Services "by in-person drop-off, email, or mail." Applicants must complete their own application. Bring the CDIB plus the documents for the assistance requested: a current utility bill; a medical bill or supply invoice with the vendor W-9; a lease agreement with the landlord W-9 for rent; or the vendor invoice and W-9 for other emergencies. Where a cut-off notice is included, allow 5-8 business days for a check to be issued. The program will not provide promissory letters to vendors. The two sources differ on the cycle: the department page says the program runs July 1 through the second week of June, while the application says it follows the tribal fiscal year, July 1 to June 30. Paper copies are available at the Kiowa Complex in Carnegie and the Social Services office in Anadarko. Mailing address: PO Box 369, Carnegie, OK 73015.

Where it's available

The Social Services page lists Emergency Assistance under "No restrictions." It is tribally funded, unlike the department's federally funded programs (LIHEAP, General Assistance), which are limited to named counties.
