Kiowa Tribe · FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Kiowa Housing Authority Rental Housing Assistance (RHA)
Rental assistance for tribal households renting from a private landlord. Once an application is approved the check is mailed directly to the landlord. Assistance is first come, first served because funding is limited, and KTHA limits an applicant or recipient to assistance once every five years. Allow 30 days for an eligibility determination.
Who's eligible
Any Enrolled Tribal Member Income Based
The packet requires a "Tribal I.D. or proof of Tribal enrollment for Head of Household or Spouse," so enrollment in any federally recognized tribe satisfies it — Kiowa members receive preference on KTHA waiting lists. Also required: a rental or lease agreement listing the applicant, a completed W-9 from the landlord, a Title Status Report from the landlord if the rental home is on trust land, and a current electric bill in the applicant's name as proof of residence. All household members age 18 and over must provide income verification or a notarized statement of zero income. Returning the packet does not guarantee assistance.
Where it's offered
State
All counties within the State of Oklahoma. The application states: "This program is funded by the HUD NAHASDA and the eligible service area is: All counties within the State of Oklahoma." This is the widest of KTHA's three published boundaries.
