BIA Burial Assistance
Funds to help cover burial expenses when an enrolled tribal member passes away and the estate lacks sufficient resources. Up to $3,500 available per burial (federal standard).
Who's eligible
Any Enrolled Tribal Member
Deceased must be an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe. The estate must lack funds to cover burial costs. Application must be made shortly after death — contact the BIA immediately. Application made on behalf of the deceased.
