Kiowa Adult Vocational Training (AVT)
Financial assistance for Kiowa members enrolling in or attending a vocational or technical school. Participants may receive funding for tuition, books, and fees, and a bi-weekly subsistence allowance at a fixed rate for the duration of the program. There is no deadline — students may apply before or during their program — but an application is not processed until every required document is in.
Who's eligible
Tribal Citizens Only
The application portal lists four cumulative applicant requirements: 18 years or older, enrolled Kiowa, "Live within the Jurisdiction," and a high school diploma or GED. The school must be accredited and the program must lead to a certificate or license ("no hobby programs"), but the school does not need to be within the jurisdiction. Applicants seeking help with a college or university associate or bachelor program are directed to the Higher Education Award Program instead.
Where it's offered
Regional
Restricted to the tribe's approved service area, which neither source names. The portal requires the applicant to "Live within the Jurisdiction" and puts the jurisdiction page behind the application login; the department page says AVT "may be subject to the approved tribal service area, which is a geographical area designated and approved by a tribal nation and/or BIA for service delivery." The six-county map published by the Career Development department is that department's WIOA jurisdiction and is not stated to apply here. Ask the Kiowa Education Agency which counties apply.
