Kiowa Tribe · CHILD CARE
Kiowa Tribe Head Start
A federally funded comprehensive child development program providing preschool and social services at no cost to eligible low-income children ages three to five and their families. School readiness services include education, child health (physical, dental, mental, and nutritional), and parent, family, and community engagement. Center-based services are delivered through three tribal Head Start centers in Carnegie, Anadarko, and Lawton plus a partnership location at Caddo-Kiowa Technology Center in Fort Cobb.
Who's eligible
Open to All Income Based
The program serves primarily low-income children. A child must be three years of age on or before September 1 of the program year applied for. A CDIB is requested only "(if applicable)" and the page states "We do not discriminate," so a child does not have to be Native to enroll. Families currently receiving TANF from DHS or SSI, or providing foster care for the child being applied for, automatically qualify and do not need to provide proof of income, but must document that status. Required documents: completed application, income verification, birth certificate, current immunization record, insurance verification, Social Security card, the child's Medicaid card if enrolled in the DHS program, and two proofs of residential address.
