Diabetes Program (SDPI)
Special Diabetes Program for Indians services for Comanche members with diabetes: blood sugar meters, monthly test strips and lancets, diabetic footwear, an annual foot exam and prescription, medication assistance, and mobility equipment including walkers, rollators, wheelchairs and knee scooters (the last limited to new amputees).
Who's eligible
Tribal Citizens Only
The program page lists four eligibility requirements: a Comanche Tribal ID, a diagnosis of Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, verification of residence, and a prescription. Knee scooters are limited to new amputees. Diabetic patients are also eligible for a voucher of up to $150 toward eyeglasses through the tribe’s Optometry Program.
Where it's offered
State
The program requires "Verification of Residence" but publishes no county list or boundary. The Anadarko, Oklahoma City and Dallas outreach offices all list the Diabetes Program among the non-local services available to members living away from Lawton, so it is not confined to the immediate area.
