Geographic

The Housing Authority publishes two statements of who it serves and they differ in breadth, so the tribal-affiliation requirement is not settled here. Its welcome statement says FPHA "is committed to providing quality and affordable housing services to eligible Fort Peck Assiniboine & Sioux tribal families living on tribal lands," while its mission statement says it "will provide safe, decent and affordable housing opportunities for Native American families residing on the Fort Peck Reservation." Both agree on the geography. The application requires a copy of enrollment papers, income verification for all household members, custody papers for any grandchildren, nieces or nephews in the household, a Declaration of Section 214 Status, and evidence of citizenship or eligible immigration status for every family member regardless of age. Previous tenants who owe money to FPHA are not eligible to apply, including those on payback agreements; new applicants receive higher preference than applicants who have previously held FPHA housing; no family is admitted if a previous bill is owed to a utility company, and proof that utilities have been turned on is required. No family is admitted whose head of household or spouse has committed fraud in any housing program.
