Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes · FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
LIHEAP assists eligible low income Native American households living within the boundaries of the Fort Peck Reservation with heating costs, energy crisis assistance, and weatherization assistance. Benefits are paid directly to the household’s energy vendor. Applicants may also request a $75 weatherization certificate (for plastic, duct tape, lath, caulk or an electric heater), which is deducted from their benefit and must be used within 30 days. The tribe states LIHEAP is a supplement to heating costs and does not pay rent or cover energy bills all year.

All household income must be reported and verified; a declaration of no income is required if there is none. Head of household must provide photo identification, and every household member 18 and over must sign the application and the information release.
