Johnson O’Malley Program
Federal Johnson O’Malley program providing supplementary assistance for the specialized education needs of Native children. The Otoe-Missouria program gives eligible students basic school supplies at the start of the school year and assists with eyewear and athletic shoes each school year.
Who's eligible
Any Enrolled Tribal Member Native American Descent Any CDIB Holder Geographic
Students must be in preschool through 12th grade and enrolled in public school, and must be a member of — or at least one-quarter degree Indian blood descendant of a member of — an Indian tribe eligible for the special programs and services provided by the United States through the Bureau of Indian Affairs. A completed application and either a certified letter of tribal affiliation or a copy of a CDIB are required. Membership in the Otoe-Missouria Tribe specifically is not required. Note the distribution limit: the Otoe-Missouria JOM program distributes supplies only to Native children in the Frontier, Morrison, and Perry school districts. Students at other schools should call their own school to find their JOM distribution site.
Where it's offered
County
The program distributes to Native American children in the Frontier, Morrison, and Perry school districts only. School-district boundaries are not county boundaries, so this entry is not attached to a structured county service area. Students outside those three districts should contact their own school for their JOM distribution site.
