The maximum grant is $15,000, and the amount awarded "cannot exceed the amount necessary to close." Income guidelines apply, following the HUD IHBG income limits linked from the page. Applicants must complete the application and attach the bank’s loan pre-approval letter, a copy of the contract and estimated closing cost, the last two pay stubs, a complete copy of last year’s tax returns, an awards letter if Social Security, retirement or disability income is used, a copy of a driver’s licence and social security card for each adult applicant, and copies of CDIB cards. Applicants must also complete the Fannie Mae HomeView homeownership education course. The grant is paid directly to the closing company, not to the applicant, and an application submitted after closing cannot be paid. Repayment is not required unless the house is sold contrary to the terms of the Useful Life Agreement.

How to apply

Complete the online Down Payment and Closing Cost application, the zero income certification if applicable, and the information release form, attaching the loan pre-approval letter and the supporting documents listed on the page. Funds are issued on the next available check day once the lender sends a settlement statement.

Where it's available

The program page contradicts itself on the boundary and the conflict is left unresolved here rather than guessed. The opening paragraph says the grant covers closing costs "in Caddo, Comanche, Cotton, Kiowa and Tillman Counties in Oklahoma" (five counties), while the FAQ on the same page answers "What areas are eligible to participate in the Down Payment and Closing Costs Program?" with "Caddo, Comanche, Cotton, Grady, Kiowa, Stephens and Tillman Counties" (seven). Both pages agree on a separate statewide window: "During the last six months of the fiscal year (April-September), this grant is available to Tribal members statewide," with the same $15,000 maximum, subject to budgeted funds. Confirm your county with CNHA before applying.
