Common questions
Do I have to be a Gila River Indian Community citizen to use these programs?
Not always. Of the 34 programs Okla lists, 17 are for Gila River Indian Community citizens only; 2 are open to citizens of any federally recognized tribe; 5 are open to anyone with a CDIB card; 5 are open to anyone eligible for Indian Health Service care; and 3 are open to everyone. For 2 others, check with the program. Each program page spells out who qualifies.
Do I have to live on the reservation or in the Gila River Indian Community service area?
21 programs are limited to the GRIC Reservation (2 Counties, Arizona) (Maricopa and Pinal counties, Arizona). 6 programs are available to eligible people anywhere in the United States. The rest have their own service areas, listed on each program page. Use “Find my programs” at the top of this page to check against where you live.
How do I become a Gila River Indian Community citizen?
Citizenship (enrollment) is decided by the Gila River Indian Community, not by Okla. The tribe’s enrollment page explains the requirements and how to apply. Main line: 520-562-9500.
How do I apply for Gila River Indian Community programs?
Each program has its own application. Open a program above to see who qualifies, how to apply and the official link. Okla is an independent directory, not part of the Gila River Indian Community or any government agency, so always confirm details with the program before you apply.
